FRESNO, Calif. - A good night's sleep may rest primarily on the mattress quality, but comfortable sheets certainly do their part to promote peaceful slumber.
The main priorities when searching for bedsheets are that they should be comfortable and durable, says Steve Carwile, president of Vivetique, a mattress manufacturer in Arcadia, Calif. The company also makes comforters, mattress pads and bedsheets out of organic cotton and other natural materials.

The foam used has a 5.3 lb/cubic foot density. This is important as this plays the most important part in how the mattress feels (comfort) and how much support it gives. Basically, this measurement tells you how heavy the material is for every cubic foot. Many other manufacturers tout that their foam is much cheaper than that of Tempur, but you'll usually find that their mattresses have a lb/cubic foot density somewhere between 2.5 and 4.0. This makes the foam softer and fails to provide good support. Of course, they produce a mattress with a lower density because manufacturing costs are reduced: less material; more air.
